Carry the Patriots' Legacy Forward
If an ancestor helped secure American independence, your place is with us.
How to Join
The Path to Membership
- 1
Establish your eligibility
Any man at least 18 years of age who is a lineal descendant of a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible. A patriot may be a soldier or sailor, or someone who gave civil or material service to the cause of independence.
- 2
Gather your lineage
Collect documents linking each generation from yourself back to your Revolutionary ancestor — birth, marriage, and death records, wills, censuses, and prior lineage applications.
- 3
Work with our registrar
Our chapter registrar will help you organize your evidence, identify gaps, and complete the official SAR application. You don't have to do the research alone.
- 4
Submit & welcome
Once your application is approved at the state and national levels, you'll be inducted as a member and invited to take part in the life of the chapter.
